Leaving Grey Street

The picture-perfect life that felt grey underneath.

In my last post, I wrote about a passing comment someone from my past carried for years, and how it showed me I had once handed my happiness to other people. The comment was about a song. This one.

Life on Grey Street

The song is Dave Matthews Band’s Grey Street.

Dave Matthews Band, Grey Street.

It’s a powerful song. It’s sad. And it paints such a vivid picture of someone who feels trapped in a colorless life that she can’t seem to escape.

Looking back, it really is a pretty accurate picture of who I was before PSYCH-K® and this work entered my life.

I can see now why the song hit him the way it did. Grey Street is about a woman waiting for her life to change color, as if the grey were coming from the outside. That’s exactly the story I was living. And when you believe the grey comes from the outside, it’s easy for the people closest to you to believe they’re the ones who are supposed to fix it.

Even though I had the “picture perfect” life that looked very good on paper and on my IG highlight reel, I was deeply unhappy. Although I’d checked all the proverbial boxes I was supposed to want at that time in my life, I knew deep down I wasn’t living in alignment.

The highlight reel always looked right.

I remember that feeling of deep dissatisfaction that hummed at the undercurrent of my existence. The feeling of wanting more but feeling absolutely stuck on how to get there. I was utterly weighed down by life, especially the decisions and realities of those closest to me (hello, unhealed empath).

My perception was only as wide as my mind allowed it to be. I was living life through a layer of muck… not usually my own, but I let everyone’s muck in and carried it as if it were mine.

And it was heavy. Dense. Grey.

I was there, but I wasn’t really there for parts of my own life.

Not only were my own experiences dulled and numbed, but I know I hurt people along the way.

Maybe you’ve been there too.

Maybe you’ve felt guilty or shamed for having the beautiful life on paper, but something still felt off.

Maybe you’ve looked around at your life and thought, This isn’t what I wanted.

Maybe you’ve known, somewhere deep down, that something needs to change but couldn’t quite figure out how to get yourself there.

Finding the Way Out

Negrar, Italy. There is always a path out. You just have to be willing to take the first step.

Then came PSYCH-K®, subconscious change work, and several other healing modalities that helped me step more fully into alignment with my soul’s purpose and the life I actually wanted to live.

Today, I operate from very different subconscious programming, and it shows. I see so much vibrancy and color and detail and possibility and hope and beauty.

And I know that I used to skim right over the exact same scenery. I didn’t let it register. I didn’t let it reach my heart or my soul.

It changed the way I see myself, the way I see the world, and the way I move through it.

It’s become my life’s work to help people get off their own Grey Street. To help clear some of the fog that can keep you stuck, and get underneath the patterns and beliefs that may be keeping you from the life you actually want.

But I want to be really honest about something.

The work will always be yours. The action will always be yours. You’re going to have to take the actual steps. I can’t do that part for you.

No one could paint my life back into color. Not a partner, not a new city, not a checked box. The color came back when I did the work underneath.

That’s the same lesson his comment handed back to me.

What I can do is walk alongside you while you begin clearing some of what’s been getting in the way.

Because I truly believe there is a version of your life that feels more vibrant. More intentional. More alive. A life that actually feels like yours.

An Invitation

There are many paths to alignment. For me, it’s become a choice I make every day.

To slow down.

To breathe.

To pay attention.

To see the light.

And to step into it.

These days, a different song is on repeat: Brandi Carlile’s Returning to Myself.

Brandi Carlile, Returning to Myself.

So I’m holding out my hand and inviting you to join me.

If you’re ready to leave your Grey Street and move toward a life that feels more aligned, more vibrant, and more like you, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.

If you’d like support with what’s keeping you stuck, you can book a private PSYCH-K® session with me.
